One Dog Dead After FDA Recall Of American Dog Food

The Food and Drug Administration has made an important recall after several dogs have become sick and one passed away due to a contaminated batch of dog food.

The brand is Evanger's Dog & Cat Food of Wheeling, IL in their wet dog food called Hunk of Beef Au Jus. They identified the contaminant as pentobarbital and it is pretty dangerous for dogs to ingest.

Pentobarbital can cause the following side effects in dogs:

  • drowsiness
  • dizziness
  • excitement
  • loss of balance
  • nausea
  • in extreme cases can cause death
